Hobbycraft has reappointed Burton-based Willshee’s as their sole waste and recycling partner after a successful first term. One particularly significant recent improvement is the installation of a bespoke onsite baler – whereby cardboard is fed in from both sides – which has improved operational handling and is a far safer machine from a health and safety perspective.

With over 110 stores and more than 200,000 product lines, Hobbycraft’s 220,000 square foot Burton national distribution centre employs 300 staff and has vast amounts of packaging to deal with, alongside other refuse. They have now achieved zero waste to landfill with a fully compliant and traceable solution.

Anthony Oldfield is retail operations manager for Hobbycraft’s Burton national distribution centre. He says:
