Brunel Healthcare is the UK’s leading manufacturer of vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements. Based in Swadlincote, and employing 430 people across 3 sites, the company specialises in private label and contract manufacture of shelf ready goods for the global marketplace.
Willshee’s provides a total waste management service across three sites, including the supply of compactors and a baler. This has a positive impact on various streams including cardboard and general waste by reducing the volume, resulting in fewer collections – which reduces costs.
Brunel Healthcare warehouse and services manager, Colin Sturgess, has been working with Willshee’s for 6 years, and commented: “We enjoy a real partnership approach with the Willshee’s team. While the essentials are covered off to very high standards week in week out, we also work together on new initiatives and improvements.
“We have just completed a trial to send capsule waste into an anaerobic digestion facility rather than sending it to RDF (refuse derived fuel). Anaerobic digestion is higher up the waste hierarchy, recycling more and reducing costs – which is good news for us, and good news for the environment.”
