Over the last 7 years Willshee’s has been very active in the new biomass industry, by supplying thousands of tonnes of processed waste wood as fuel alternative to create Energy from Waste, which in turn provides electricity for thousands of homes.

Prior to this outlet the majority of waste wood found its way to landfill, as the industry grew the off takers required more and more material, however over the last 6 months there has been an abundance of processed wood flooding the market, Willshee’s maintains good outlets for the material, but as a consequence we have seen gate prices increase around the UK.

Willshee’s is very much committed to the processing of waste wood and have recently decided to install a second wood waste processing plant at our new Swadlincote operation next summer, this will give us the opportunity to increase our intake of waste wood whilst giving us security should we have a major breakdown.

Regarding the over supply of processed waste wood, Off takers for wood waste remain strong, the only real change will be the overall costs, and although Willshee’s has seen an immediate impact on costs we have held off increasing gate fees to our contracted customers, prices will be amended in our annual price increase 1st January 2022.
