Celebrating 35 Years in Business!

This month, Willshee’s is proudly celebrating 35 years in business. The company was started in 1984 by Keith and Maria Willshee with just one lorry and 10 skips. Today, there are nearly 100 employees and over 40 vehicles covering all aspects of refuse collection and waste management.

The founders’ son Dean is now managing director, with Maria still very active on the management team and heading up the finance department. There are four other family members at the company – office manager Jenna, SHEQ manager Craig, maintenance supervisor Dave and customer service advisor Sheena.

Now recognised as a leading operator across the Midlands, Willshee’s is at the forefront of the zero waste to landfill campaign. The company offers a one stop shop and a totally integrated solution across waste management, recycling and skip hire expertise with over 100 different recycling streams.

The company proposes, develops and delivers tailor made services for the reduction, reuse, recycling, recovery and disposal of waste for the commercial, industrial and domestic markets. One of Willshee’s particular areas of growth is currently hazardous waste. This specialist market is looked after by a team of highly qualified professionals.

Zero waste to landfill

Willshee’s has a clear focus on sending nothing to landfill. With that in mind, the company can now recycle almost all wastes including wood, cardboard, paper, metal, glass, plastic, plasterboard and aggregates. More and more businesses are coming to Willshee’s in their commitment to becoming more environmentally aware.

Willshee’s success story has also been down to its commitment to and investment in the highest standards of operation. The quality of the business is assured by the attainment of ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety) and Safe Contractor accreditations.

Dean Willshee commented: “I am massively proud of what we have achieved as a family business and the legacy left behind by my father Keith. There are a number of reasons why I think we have thrived as a company, we have always invested in new fleet and the latest equipment. We deliver a service that is fully transparent and safety compliant so our customers have complete peace of mind while benefitting from both an environmental and financial perspective.

“The final factor is that we have worked really hard to maintain a family ethos with customer service and care at the core of everything we do. This is part of our DNA – which will be passed down to the next generation of Willshees too!”

Here’s to the next 35 years!
